What's Happening in Arlington, TX…

Arlington celebrates the 4th

Arlington always comes alive around the 4th of July, and this year will be no exception as the nation readies for the celebration of its independence.

For those intending to view the DC Fireworks from here, quite a few locations will be available. Although the annual Long Bridge Park festivities will not take place this year, the fireworks can still be seen from there. Fort Meyers will have JBM-HH Whipple Field available for Arlington County residents and so will the Air Force Memorial. Rosslyn will have Iwo Jima, Gateway Park and Gravely Point (which is right passed Reagan National Airport heading north) and standing room only at Key Bridge.

Parades are big traditional 4th of July traditions around here, and for those who do not mind the traffic hassle the DC parade is the granddaddy of them all. The one-mile grand procession will begin at 11:45 am on 7th and Constitutions Avenue and end at 2:00 pm 17th ST. NW and Constitution Avenue NW.

Other parades are hosted by Arlington neighborhoods. These include the Barcroft and Fairlington Villages parades. Some neighborhoods combine parades with celebrations; these will be Albermarle, Lyon Village and Lee Heights. Douglas Park will have a parade and a community picnic while the Bluemont neighborhood will be listening to the ceremonial ringing of the historic Bluemont Bell at noon.
