Tour to explore trees in historic Memphis cemetery

Memphis’s Elmwood Cemetery is home to a large number of trees, many of which are hundreds of years old, and a walking tour of the property will give the public a chance to learn more about them.

The guided tree tour will provide an introduction to the more than 1,400 trees that can be found on the property. The organizers explained that many have been growing since before the cemetery even came into being, and these silent witnesses to the history of the grave yard will be included in the excursion.

The tour is scheduled to take approximately 90 minutes, and as the terrain may be rough and uneven, those who plan on participating are advised to wear sturdy footwear that is suitable for walking. While the group walks through the cemetery, the different tree species will be pointed out and the participants will have a chance to learn more about them.

Tickets for the ‘Tree Tour of Elmwood Cemetery’ are currently available for purchase, and they have been priced at $20 each. Printed guides crafted by Print shops can be provided to each person who takes part in this sort of function, and these will make it easier for the group to identify the trees they see.

This outing in Elmwood Cemetery will be offered on May 4. The walkers will set out at 1:00 pm.
