Fans of pop music have already begun talking about a live music festival scheduled to take place in September. This event will bring together a host of bands that have come to epitomize the raucous 1980s.
The 2026 Memphis PowerPop Festival represents one portion of the larger Orion Financial Free Concert Series. This event will feature four bands that have come to represent some of the founders of the pop music movement. These include Joybomb, Your Academy, Sonny Wilsons, and The Smithereens. The Smithereens are particularly known for hits including A Girl Like You, Too Much Passion, Behind the Wall of Sleep, and Only a Memory.
In addition to live music, other on-site amenities, such as food trucks, will be made available. Attendees are also welcome to bring coolers, blankets, and lawn chairs. However, organizers stress that this is a non-smoking event.
Live music festivals often rely on tried-and-tested marketing techniques that offer cost-effective solutions. They may partner with trusted Print shops when creating mass-produced Flyers, ask volunteers to distribute playbills, and hand out Brochures at the entrance that can also serve as keepsakes.
The 2026 Memphis PowerPop Festival is being celebrated on Sunday, September 6th, and the first band is slated to perform at 5 PM. This open-air event will be hosted at 1928 Poplar Avenue. Tickets are not needed, and there is no charge to attend.
