Theatrical performance set to honor Memphis musicians

Memphis is the birthplace of countless musicians who have gone on to enjoy national acclaim. An upcoming event intends to recognize the contributions they have made to the community, and to highlight their unique journeys to success.

901 Stories: Down on Beale will be focusing on the lives of three prominent Memphians. The audience can become immersed in stories associated with Carla and Vanesse Thomas, Al Green, and Alex Chilton. Each of these performers is known for their ability to create memorable tunes, and they are all particularly associated with the 1960s music scene.

Local artists will interpret their hits, and innovative choreography should keep the audience on the edges of their seats. In addition to cover songs, these singers will be accompanied by Kortland Whalum, who is known for contemporary songs including Can We Go, One of a Kind, and A Love Letter.

Live performances hoping to attract a diverse demographic will frequently employ equally flexible marketing strategies. Potential approaches include flyer printing, placing playbills throughout the city, and working with third-party online ticket vendors.

901 Stories: Down on Beale will be debuting on Friday, June 5 and Saturday, June 6. Doors open at 5:30 PM on both days, and the performances will conclude at 8:30 PM. This event is being hosted by the New Daisy Theater located at 330 Beale Street. Tickets begin at $35 per person.
