Summit will set the template for the future of Shelby County

The 2015 Greenprint Summit is taking place this month in Germantown, hosted by Mid-South Regional Greenprint.

The summit will feature a mayoral panel where area mayors will discuss the changes that have already been made in their cities. There will also be a future of Greenprint overview and a Greenways panel.

Various exhibitors will also be showcasing their products and/or services; this year will feature such organizations as the City of West Memphis, the Wolf River Conservancy, and the Memphis Parks Advocacy Group. Food and beverages will also be served.

Greenprint is an initiative thatincludes housing and land, environmental protection, conservation, and economic development. The initiative is set to transform the greater Memphis area beginning in 2014 up to 2040. It was created when Shelby County was awarded a $2m HUD Sustainable Communities Regional Planning Grant. It will include more parks, bike and walking trails, and open space.

It is likely that those who own Memphis and area printing companies will be interested in attending these. Most printers follow current sustainable practices such as using vegetable-based ink and recycled papers.

The Greenprint Summit will be held at Germantown Great Hall on November 16 from 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm. Admission is free. To learn more about this event, visit the official Greenprint website.
