What's Happening in Memphis, TN…

Summer to be brought to a close by music event

The Delta Fair and Music Fest is returning to Memphis for 10 days, beginning at the end of August.

The show is partly an agricultural fair and will be hosting several animal shows, together with a range of home and garden contests in topics like knitting and gardening. There are set to be plenty of activities to appeal to people of any age and interest, with offerings as diverse as lawnmower races, Queen pageants, the Star of the Fair singing competition, and an educational expo on the itinerary.

The Children's Barnyard will give access to working farm animals, and kids will be able to pet and feed them. There will also be a midway with rides and games; midway wristbands cost $25 each for unlimited rides. Other activities are expected to include a demolition derby, pig races, a comedy circus, and concerts. Some of the confirmed musical acts appearing at this year's show include Uncle Kracker (best known for his 2001 hit ‘Follow Me’) and Jason D. Williams.

Last but not least, vendors will be on hand to sell arts and crafts, food, and collectibles. Many will no doubt be working with Memphis printing companies to make their booths look more attractive to visitors.

The Delta Fair and Music Fest is taking place at the Agricenter International from August 29 to September 7. Admission is $10, or $5 for seniors and youths. For more information, visit the official event website.
