An afternoon for older adults in Memphis will offer a way for them to get creative, showing that age should be no barrier to learning.
Debbie Lovett, who is a local artist, will teach a group of registrants how to use a few simple materials to create a set of decorative clay wind chimes. The project will take three sessions to complete, and each of these will run for two hours.
The students in the classes will use pottery and wire to make their chimes, and they will roll out the clay, cut and form the shapes, and then choose the glaze they wish to use. They will then be fired in a kiln at a different location before being returned to the learners to assemble. The activity is free, but is limited to those who reside in Shelby County, and there is enough room for 12 learners.
