Football has always been a part of Memphis culture, and locals are already preparing for the annual Southern Heritage Classic slated to take place in early autumn.
The Southern Heritage Classic is now in its 36th year, and this year's event is expected to draw a sizeable crowd. According to past statistics, between 40,000 and 60,000 fans could be attending.
Although the football game is the main attraction, organizers have also billed the Southern Heritage Classic as a celebration of local culture, and an opportunity for college alumni to network with one another.
This year’s competition features the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Golden Lions facing off against the Alcorn State University Braves.
