Memphis convention to draw anime fans to the city

The 5th annual Anime Blues Expo is set to take place this July in Memphis for three days. The largest convention of its kind in the Mid-South, the event is aimed at anime, comic book, fantasy, and science fiction fans.

The expo will feature discussion panels, autograph sessions, and special guest stars. Among the stars who will be appearing at this year's convention are Brina Palencia, Nooto Hirooka, Gary Chalk, and Trevol Devall. Guests can also compete in a cosplay (or costume) contest – among the categories they can compete in are best in show, best makeup, judge's choice, and best group.

The convention will have a Pachinko Fever area with several machines, the Maid Cafe where the servers are dressed in costume, a formal ball with a Disney theme, and an AMV video contest. In addition, guests can browse a vendors’ room.

It is likely that this event will attract fans from all over the area to Memphis. Organizers may have invested in poster printing services to advertise it in the community.

The Anime Blues Expo will take place at the Memphis Cook Convention Center from July 10 to 12. Passes are $30 for all three days, $30 for Friday and Saturday, and $15 on Sunday. To find out more and to be notified about any changes, visit the official event website.
