Memphis competition to showcase blues bands
The Blues Foundation will organize a multi-day competitive music event in January on Beale Street in Memphis.
The International Blues Challenge is a series of concerts where people can hear talented blues performers from around the world. There will be more than 20 clubs on Beale Street that will host the challengers and blues bands. The multi-day experience will also include master classes, book signings, film screenings, and networking opportunities. The groups selected for the International Blues Challenge have all won local events by Blues Foundation-affiliated blues societies.
The Blues Foundation is a group that wishes to preserve and promote the art form of blues music. The organization was founded by Joe Savarin in 1980, and Kimberly Horton is the foundation's current president.
More than 200 blues societies are part of the group that host local challenges and sponsor bands participating in the International Blues Challenge. The events held by the foundation attract over 225 blues bands each year. Organizations in charge of similar music contests may use flyer printing to share information about their events.
The blues-themed competition will be held from January 7th to January 11th. People interested in voting during the International Blues Challenge can become a member of the Blues Foundation. The cost of joining the group starts at $25 per person, and youth members can sign up for free.
