Festival will appear to readers and writers

The Mid-South Book Festival will take place next month in Memphis, presented by Literacy Mid-South.

There are expected to be approximately 75 authors set to make appearances at the festival. They include Richard Alley, Cary Holladay, Jeff Edmondson, and Betsy Phillips. There will be author signings, readings, and panel discussions.

A street fair is taking place on the second last day of the festival, which will have food trucks, author readings, vendors, and children's activities.

For those in the business, there are three events being held. The Literacy Summit is aimed at educators and nonprofit organizations and will have guest speakers such as David C. Banks and three breakout sessions. The fee is $10.

The Writers Conference (with a registration fee of $20) will also have breakout sessions, readings, and book signings, and is aimed at those aged 18 and over. The Student Writers Conference is for those between the ages of 13 and 17, and fees are $10.

The Well-Read Reception will allow people to meet some of the authors. Guests will also enjoy music, hors d'oeuvres and drinks. It costs $25 in advance or $40 at the door.

Memphis Print companies may have provided printed materials to be handed out at the conferences.

The Mid-South Book Festival will be held at Playhouse on the Square from September 9 to 13. Visit the official website for more information.
