Copper folding class to offer froggy fun for Memphis learners
Metal smithing is an ancient art, and a Memphis workshop will introduce one of the techniques that has been used for many years to create a variety of objects.
The students will craft a fun item they can take home with them, and the Metal Museum, which is hosting the function, is currently accepting registrations.
The learners in the class will be creating a friendly faced copper frog, and while they work, they will be learning the techniques involved in copper folding. They will use an origami pattern as their guide, and while the class is open to anyone over 10 years old, those who are 15 or younger will need to have a parent or guardian attend the session with them.
To help the learners practice their folds, they will work with origami paper. Once they are ready, they will form their final creation using a thin sheet of copper. When it’s complete, it will even be able to jump, and they can take it home to show their friends and family.
The fee to register for the Leap Year Origami Frog project is $15, and there are two sessions to choose from. A company that prepares letterheads can also supply waivers and other business forms that can be helpful when organizing a class like this.
The Memphis Metal Museum will be offering this workshop on February 29. Everyone is welcome to hop on in.
