Sioux Falls takes on the Trail Challenge

The Sioux Falls Trail Challenge will be held this year on a 20-mile track.

This is not a race, as participants can run, walk, bike, or skip, to name a few options, but the main aim is to help multiple local outdoors associations.

Attendees will be given “passports” which can then be stamped at a number of stations along the path. Those who finish their passports can earn extra rewards at the end of the race. There will also be food trucks at the end of the trail and an area set up for an after party.

Unlike most races, this one allows participants to decide when they are finished. Although the entire course is twenty miles, a shuttle will start picking up those who are done at the 10-mile mark and taking them back to start. Participants are fully in control of how much or little of the course they cover.

The organizations benefitting from this event include Sioux Falls Area Running Club, Falls Area Bicyclists, Sioux Falls Skatepark Association, and Sioux Empire Paddlers. Each of these groups plans its own outdoor community fitness events. Representatives from these groups will likely be in attendance, and may have Business Cards or other printed materials available.

Registration is currently open, and is $20 per adult. Up to four children under 18 can go with each registered adult for free. Day-of registration will open at 6:30 am, and will be $25. The Trail Challenge will be held on Saturday, June 29.
