Sioux Falls gallops back in time at renaissance fair

The 24th Annual Siouxland Renaissance Festival will be held in Sioux Falls next month, inviting people to step back in time to the era of Queen Elizabeth I.

The Renaissance Festival is hosted by the Siouxland Renaissance Association, which is a volunteer-led nonprofit with the mission to share its love of the Renaissance Era with the rest of the world. The nonprofit, and by extent, the festival, focuses on the Renaissance Era as viewed from a Tudor England lens. As such, all components of the festival revolve around this viewpoint.

The festival will transport attendees back 400 years ago to a world filled with lords and ladies, bards, peasants, merchants, and yeomen. Everything that guests experience, sights, sounds, smells, and tastes, will harken back to this age of Shrewsbury. There will be armored jousting to observe, as well as dancers, jugglers, and musicians. Merchants will also be present selling artisan wares and refreshments fit for kings.

Elaborately themed festivals like this will often be decorated with detailed paper decorations, which local print shops can help organizers to create and print.

The Siouxland Renaissance Festival is scheduled to take place on June 7 and June 8, from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm on Saturday and 10:00 am to 6:00 pm on Sunday. It will be held at the WH Lyon Fairgrounds, which is located at 100 North Lyon Boulevard.
