Conference to empower those with developmental disabilities

Next month, Sioux Falls will host the South Dakota Conference on Developmental Disabilities, which will have the theme of “Leading Change Together.”

The SD Conference on Developmental Disabilities is organized each year by the USD Center for Disabilities, which was established in 1971 as part of a national network of centers with the mission of improving the lives of those with disabilities and their families. The conference is designed for individuals with disabilities, professionals working in the field, and state and community agencies.

The theme “Leading Change Together,” will focus on developing and expanding partnerships with various organizations and agencies across South Dakota who all share the goal of improving the lives and well-being of people with developmental disabilities. Over 25 panels and presentations will feature topics such as ways technology can help people with disabilities live more independent lives, the intersectionality of disability and abuse/assault, how to provide culturally responsive services, and how to support the families of people with disabilities.

Conferences like this often feature Posters as ways to relay information to attendees. Such Posters can be printed professionally at most local Print shops specializing in poster printing services.

The conference is scheduled for September 6 and September 7. It will take place at the Sioux Falls Convention Center, located at 1201 North West Avenue. Full conference admission is $125.
