With so many staying home due to COVID-19, home gardening has become increasingly popular and Warwick’s budding green thumbs are invited to brush up on their plant troubleshooting skills.
An online workshop created by The University of Rhode Island will investigate the issue of plant diseases for the home-based gardener. It may be of interest to those who grow for food or pleasure, and the instruction will be supplied by Heather Faubert, who is the director of the University’s Plant Clinic.
During the webinar, the audience will learn how to identify different plant pests and diseases, as well as how to treat them and prevent them from becoming a problem in the first place. There will also be a discussion of which species are expected to be the biggest problems this year so they can be prepared to deal with them head on should they become an issue.
Many in-person learning activities of this type have been converted to an online format so that the public can attend them in safety. Sending out kits of Brochures, Promotional Products, and other educational materials will make it easier for them to learn even more.
This virtual opportunity to get a jump start on the 2021 horticultural season will be held online on February 2. It will begin at 7:00 pm.
