Warwick to honor late Rhode Island Coach

The Ocean State 5K Trail Run will take place this September at Goddard Memorial State Park.

The race commemorates the late Norm Monks, a respected high school coach remembered for his dedication to track and field. Open to participants of all ages and fitness levels, the event welcomes runners, walkers, and joggers to experience a scenic course along Narragansett Bay and through the park’s grasslands.

The 5K (3.1-mile) route is designed as a flat, fast trail, starting and finishing near the public golf course clubhouse. T-Shirts will be provided to all registered participants. Organizers encourage early registration, as the $30 entry fee will increase after August 30th at 11:59 pm. Online registration closes on September 26th.

Facilities at the race site include public restrooms, but no showers or locker rooms. Ample parking is available inside the park, and small tents or canopies less than 300 sq ft are permitted. Race officials emphasize the event’s inclusive nature, making it an opportunity for both competitive athletes and families to participate. Attendees can find additional information through the Run Sign Up listing.

Community events like this may benefit from professional flyer printing, as it may increase event awareness, boost runner participation, and highlight local sponsorships.

The run will be held on Saturday, September 27th, from 8 am to 10 am at Goddard Memorial State Park, 1095 Ives Rd, Warwick, Rhode Island.
