A cold-water tradition will mark the start of 2026, as participants head to the shoreline for the 15th annual Frozen Clam Dip and Obstaplunge, a New Year’s Day fundraiser benefiting MENTOR Rhode Island.
The event will combine wintertime challenges with charitable impact, drawing community members willing to brave icy conditions to support youth mentorship across the state.
Attendees may choose between two options: a direct immersion into Narragansett Bay or a timed run through a ninja-inspired obstacle course that ends with a plunge. The obstacle course will operate in waves at 11:00 am, 11:30 am, and 12:00 noon, while the traditional dip is scheduled for noon.
Adult participation costs $44, while youth tickets are priced at $22. Each registration includes entry into the selected activity and a commemorative T-shirt, available while supplies last. Tickets may be purchased in advance or onsite, with both credit and cash accepted. All participants must complete a waiver, and minors must have documentation signed by a parent or guardian.
Local businesses are supporting the effort through sponsorships, helping offset costs and expand the event’s reach.
Flyer printing may be used to identify key locations throughout the beach area of events such as this one. Proceeds from the plunge contribute directly to mentorship initiatives serving Rhode Island youth.
It all takes place on New Year’s Day from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Goddard Memorial State Park Beach, 1095 Ives Rd, Warwick.
