Warwick runs in memory of local coach
The Ocean State 5K Trail Run will take place this September in Warwick, Rhode Island.
The event will be held in memory of longtime Rhode Island coach Norm Monks. The race honors his commitment to athletics and his influence on youth sports. The event is open to participants of all ages and skill levels, including runners, walkers, and joggers.
The 5K course is a 3.1-mile loop winding through the scenic trails and open grasslands of Goddard Memorial State Park. The fast and relatively flat route begins and ends near the public golf course clubhouse. Runners will receive commemorative T-shirts as part of their entry package.
Entry is priced at $30, with a rate increase scheduled after August 30th at 11:59 pm. Online registration closes on September 26th. All participants must register prior to race day, as there will be no on-site sign-ups.
The park provides ample parking and basic amenities, such as restrooms, but lacks showers or changing facilities. Canopies and tents smaller than 300 sq ft are allowed on-site.
