Warwick kids encouraged to get creative

Warwick Center for the Arts has plans in the works for a week filled with activities that will promote artistic creativity in early learners.

The center will be hosting its “The Art of Storytelling” camp, and it will run for five mornings. It is for kids from ages four to six, and it will use popular children’s stories to encourage the participants to flex their creative muscles.

When the campers arrive in the morning, they will be led through a series of theater warm-ups that have been adapted for young kids. After this, it will be time to review some of their favorite stories and explore them using their voice and other sounds. They will also prepare costumes and build props, and at the end of the activity, they will stage a short performance. It is suggested that each child should bring a lunch as well as snacks and water, and masks are required.

The planners of this storytelling summer camp explained that for the safety of campers and staff alike, there will be Covid screenings at the start of each day. Sheets for this as well as contact tracing Forms and other paperwork to use for this sort of activity will be on offer at local Print shops.

The Warwick Center for the Arts will kick off its “The Art of Storytelling” camp on July 5. Each day will begin at 9:00 am.
