Colonial encampment coming to Warwick
Warwick’s Pawtuxet Park will soon see costumed reenactors set up a colonial-style camp as part of the Gaspee Days celebration.
The participants will be spending the weekend colonial style, with no modern conveniences such as electricity, running water, or cellphones. This will give the public a chance to get a better feel for what life might have been like for early American settlers in the 1700s.
An assortment of colonial militias will be taking part, and they will be on hand to answer any questions visitors to the site may have. People can stroll through the tents that will be set up and watch the reenactors going about their daily tasks.
The event is being brought to the community through the assistance of the Pawtuxet Rangers, which is a colonial militia from the local area made up of volunteers who enjoy bringing history to life. A local printing services provider will be able to craft an assortment of printed materials for a historical recreation function such as this, ensuring that they fit in well with its overall theme.
The encampment has been planned for June 10 and 11 in Pawtuxet Park, which is located on the Narragansett Parkway. Everyone is welcome to check it out for themselves, and those looking for additional information can find it on the Visit Warwick website.
