A light festival will be taking place once again in Providence this February.
“Lumina 2025: Play!”, will be a little different this year, with the addition of an illuminated playground that will include ice skating performances, cultural celebrations and interactive installations, will take place over the first half of February.
Last year’s 2024 Lumina saw over 300,000 crowding into downtown Providence, despite being held in the coldest month of the year. Foot traffic downtown increased by 45% last year over the same period in 2023; organizers are hoping this year will see even larger numbers.
Savvy business owners often consult with printing services so as to most effectively take advantage of increased foot traffic from events like this.
The festival will take place in the heart of downtown Providence and will showcase the recent investment the city has made in the downtown ice-skating rink. The Greater Kennedy Plaza will be turned into a winter wonderland with an expected 17,000 – 25,000 people going through daily. Additionally, Ice Dance International will be performing at the Providence Rink.
Plus, there will be interactive exhibits located in front of City Hall and at Burnside and Biltmore parks.
Lumina 2025 will begin on February 1, at which time all the installations will be in display mode and a VIP kickoff will be held. Displays will continue every evening through February 17, with the various community events and performances taking place on February 7 and 8.
