Two historic Providence schools to merge

Recently an announcement by the Providence Country Day School (PCD) was made regarding its planned merger this fall with the Henry Barnard School (HBS).

The school confirmed that renovations are taking place in anticipation of relocating the elementary school this fall to its East Providence campus.

Viewed as a “major milestone” in Providence Country Day’s multi-million-dollar renovation project goal of unifying all Pre-K and first grade students, work is underway at Metcalf Hall. Kevin Folan, the Head of School explained:

“It’s time to bring our community together. The student-centric focus of these two historic institutions is unparalleled. I know this move will only allow us to continue to deliver on and elevate the experience of every student who steps foot on our campus.”

Mergers are an opportunity for companies and other organizations to rethink their Logo Design, since much of their printed materials may need refreshing with either a different address or name change anyway.

Folan explained the significance 2023 had for both schools, pointing out that this year PCD’s celebrates a century of educating the city’s children as well as being the 125th anniversary for HBS.

Three years ago, Henry Barnard was facing the prospect of having to close its doors, when the Board of Trustee of Providence Country Day stepped up to assume all financial responsibility for the school.

The renovation of PCD’s Metcalf Hall is anticipated to be completed in time for the start of the 2023-2024 school term.
