Piggy Derby returns for fundraiser near Wyomissing

A unique fundraiser is making its triumphant return to the Wyomissing area this summer, allowing area residents to “adopt” a piggy bank before entering it into an exciting race.

The Riverfront’s 3rd Annual Piggy Derby Fundraiser, which is being organized and sponsored by Riverfront Federal Credit Union, has announced that the piggies are making a comeback for 2026. The family-friendly event will invite participants to send piggy banks floating down the Wyomissing Creek.

Participants will adopt a piggy bank and cheer it on as the race begins, with the winning piggy’s owner receiving a prize. The funds collected from this year’s derby will benefit Dementia Friendly Berks County, as well as Berks County Cats, both of which have aims of making a difference in the local community. Banner printing is an effective and memorable way to promote community events like this while making impressions on passersby.

Both non-profit organizations will have a pig participating in the race. Participants are invited to bring family and friends to watch the race and add to the environment, as the host site will be open to the public.

The race is set for Saturday, June 6 starting around 1:00 PM. Participants and audience members can meet at 475 Museum Road in nearby Reading. Pig adoptions are $10 apiece and are available online.
