Many people enjoy incorporating fresh mushrooms into their cuisine, and a North Versailles workshop will show how easy and economical it can be to do this.
Garden Dreams in Pittsburgh will be offering an introduction to the art of growing mushrooms outdoors, and the techniques can be used with a variety of edible species of fungi. Admission is by donation, and the organizers are counting on the generosity of the attendees.
During the class, the group will learn about fungi and their role in the ecosystems they inhabit and how they benefit plants and other organisms. They will discuss which kind of edible mushrooms can be grown in the home garden, and everyone will go home with a kit of supplies they can use to cultivate their own crop of wine cap mushrooms. The techniques can then be used to grow other popular varieties such lion’s mane, oyster, and shitake.
Taking part in class can give learners a strong foundation in a subject, but they may walk away wanting to learn even more. A brochure printing company can prepare materials that will help them to do so, and these can incorporate full color photos and other graphics.
This introduction to the art of cultivating edible fungi will kick off at 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 22. The venue for the experience is at 806 Holland Avenue.
