North Versailles birders who would like to learn about the area's natural history may enjoy climbing aboard the Explorer for a cruise on offer courtesy of the National Aviary.
The facility has scheduled two Bird Watching Cruises, and they will both have a run time of three hours. The outing will be piloted by Captain Ryan O’Rourke, and passengers will be treated to an opportunity to spot a variety of riparian wildlife.
Species that may be spotted range from herons and bitterns to eagles, cormorants, and many types of songbirds. Everyone is welcomed to bring along their favorite pair of binoculars, and they may also want to have their field guide and birder’s journal at the ready. The excursion will be family friendly, and everyone is reminded to dress for the weather. The dock and boat are both ADA-accessible, and ticketholders will be invited to begin boarding half an hour ahead of the scheduled departure time.
Those who offer boat tours and other excursions usually discuss the safety rules with the passengers before they head out. Stationery printers can prepare printed versions of these policies to help riders digest the information, and also help people with hearing difficulties.
The National Aviary cruises are set for June 24 and September 16, both of which are Saturdays. They will depart from 715 Casino Drive.
