Practically Perfect show coming to Glenside area

A new theater company that recently formed in Glenside is presenting its third production over the next few days.

The Sine Timore Theatre Company is inviting everyone to enjoy the story of the irrepressible P. L. Travers character Mary Poppins, when she sails into the Glenside area for four performances. Her appearance is courtesy of Megan McCormick, who grew up in Glenside and was recently graduated from the School of Theater, Film and Media Arts at Temple University.

McCormick wants to give young people in her hometown the opportunity to take classes in theater, and provide them at an affordable price. She notes that her first theater experiences were when she performed in summer stock at St. Luke's, and she found many of her first opportunities in Glenside. Now, she wants to make the same opportunities available to other budding actors.

McCormick will direct a cast comprised of 21 students from grades six through twelve in the upcoming production of Mary Poppins. The show is based on both the Disney film, and the Broadway musical, which ran for more than 2,500 performances. Poster printing is often used with events like this, as fans enjoy having mementos to take home.

Mary Poppins will be given four performance at Gratz College in Elkins Park: 7:00 pm on June 28; 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm on June 29; and 7:00 pm on June 30. Glenside residents can reach the theater in minutes.
