The Michael Jackson tribute band Who's Bad is on its way to the Keswick Theatre in Glenside for one show only, and the evening promises to be great fun for fans of the pop music icon.
Vamsi Tadepalli founded the band in 2004, and got together other North Carolina musicians to form the seven-man group. Tadepalli and the rest of the band combined have more than 100 years' experience in music and show business, including working on Broadway in shows like ‘Phantom of the Opera’.
Taalib York and Joseph Bell are the frontmen, delivering dance moves and vocals, backed up by the rest of the group. They have studied the legendary singer’s songs and performances and are able to recreate them. Concerts like this are the perfect place for organizers to use poster printing to create colorful advertisements.
A review of the band's work in the CU Independent said there were “awed whispers” from the audience as Taalib York, in his Michael Jackson persona, took the stage, wearing a fedora, aviator sunglasses, and military-style black jacket. York mimicked Jackson’s fluid robot and the famous moonwalk. Other band members joined in occasionally, dancing along with York. In addition, Joseph Bell also took a turn imitating Jackson on certain numbers.
The concert begins at 8:00 pm this Friday, February 15; the doors open at 7.00 pm, and the show is suitable for audiences of all ages.
