Hard rock giant to play Glenside

A band that almost defines the genre of hard rock will appear in Glenside.

The 1980s were the decade of hard rock bands like Metallica, Iron Maiden, and Slayer. One of the bands that defines that era is Dokken, and they will bring that sound to Glenside. The era of hard rock gave way to “modern rock,” popularized by bands like Nirvana. Dokken has decided it is time to return to the older form.

Don Dokken formed his first band in Los Angeles in 1976 and called it Airborn. However, success did not come until he went to Europe. There, he renamed the band after his surname, and began to build a following. Worldwide success came in the mid-1980s when their second and third albums sold over one million Copies each. At the time, they were opening for bands like Judas Priest and Aerosmith ,and were firmly established.

A review of a Dokken concert says:

“The group hasn’t lost any of its sound and fury and delivered consistently throughout the night.”

Dokken’s guest on this tour is the band Lynch Mob, formed by George Lynch, former Dokken guitarist, after Dokken’s first split. He has gone back to play with his old bandmates on occasions.

A review says:

“Wicked awesome . . . lynch mob knows how to rock.”

The bands will be at the Keswick Theatre in Glenside on July 14 at 7:30 pm. Poster printing can provide edgy publicity for events like this.
