Glenside to welcome new upscale restaurant and club

Dino’s Backstage and The Celebrity Room, a luxe bar, restaurant, and cabaret that recreates the sophistication of the supper clubs of the mid-20th century, is getting set to open in Glenside.

The new venue is located in Keswick Village, in a building designed by Horace Trumbauer. The club itself is the work of Ed Stokes Architecture, and was named the restaurant with the best ambiance by OpenTable.com.

The venue’s dining room walls are covered with black-and-white photos of family and friends that remind diners of the age when people dressed up to go out for dinner.

In The Celebrity Room, the walls are adorned with Hollywood’s brightest stars of the 1940s and 1950s, such as Lana Turner and Cary Grant. The room’s color scheme is classic black-and-white, including a zebra carpet, a stage with a white backdrop, and a black grand piano. The light level in the room is low, in keeping with the design. Since that might make it difficult to read the Menus, they are lit from within.

The club’s grand opening weekend begins at 1:00 pm on Friday, September 30. Paula Johns entertains from 7:00 pm to 10:30 pm, on Friday and Saturday, and Michael Richard Kelly-Cataldi appears Sunday from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm. There is a special prix fixe menu available Friday.
