A popular scientist whose presentations are as easy to understand as they are informative is on the way to Glenside.
Since 1996, astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson has worked at New York City's Rose Center for Earth and Space, but he is also the host of his popular show, StarTalk, which is broadcast on both radio and television. Based in New York City, Tyson is also the author of several Books.
When he was a teenager, Tyson studied astronomy intensively, and started giving lectures about it when he was 15. Astronomer Carl Sagan, who was on the faculty of Cornell University, wanted Tyson to do his undergraduate work there, and wrote to Tyson personally. Tyson met Sagan, and brought the story full circle in the first episode of his series, “Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey,” when he showed the audience a 1975 calendar that once belonged to Sagan. Tyson's series is a follow-up to Sagan's famous “Cosmos: A Personal Voyage” that aired in 1980.
A review of one of Tyson's talks says it was:
“ . . . immensely entertaining . . . without losing sight of the fact that Tyson's on a mission to make science intelligible and important to lay people.”
Tyson will be at the Keswick Theatre in Glenside on August 27, at 8:00 pm. Poster printing can provide innovative advertising for events like this.
