Glenside goes blonde with weekend musical

Glenside residents might want to make a run to the drugstore for hair color when a popular musical comes to town.

Sine Timore Theatre Company is presenting “Legally Blonde the Musical, Jr.,” a play based on a hit Broadway musical and a hugely successful film, both based on Amanda Brown's novel of the same name.

The story follows Elle Woods, who has just been dumped by her boyfriend, Warner, who's going to Harvard Law School. He deems her an unsuitable partner for a serious attorney, as she is a stereotypical California girl, enjoying the sun and dressing in signature pink.

Elle, not to be undone, follows Warner, gets into Harvard Law, and soon starts making friends among the uptight Easterners. She is successful in law school, decides Warner is not good enough for her, and goes on to practice law, finding a far better boyfriend along the way. The show is full of musical numbers that give Sine Timore performers a chance to sing and dance. Poster printing is often used when events like this are scheduled, as fans enjoy having mementos of the experience.

A review of the show in Arlington, Texas, called it “deliciously daffy,” while a reviewer in Tyler, Texas said it was “really funny.”

Performances are set for 7:00 pm tomorrow, September 6, and again at 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm on Saturday, September 7, and 2:00 pm on Sunday, September 8. The location is the Cheltenham Center for the Arts on Ashbourne Road in Cheltenham – a quick drive for residents of Glenside.
