Glenside brings home the Bacons

Kevin Bacon, famous for his work on stage and screen, and his brother Michael, a noted television and film composer, have headlined the Bacon Brothers band for 17 years. Now they are coming home to Pennsylvania—both were born in Philadelphia—for one appearance in Glenside, at the Keswick Theatre.

Despite Kevin's standing as a major movie star, he is not a celebrity “playing around” in the music industry. He and his brother have been touring for years, and have now released eight albums. They began their career in music at an early age, and name Chet Atkins, Jimmy Rogers, Pete Seeger, James Taylor, Led Zeppelin, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, along with the Motown sound and Philly soul, as strong influences on them.

The bandsmen have been the same since the beginning: Michael plays cello and guitar and handles vocals; Kevin is also on guitar, percussion, and performs vocals as well. Paul Guzzone sings backing vocals and plays bass; Joe Mennonna plays the accordion and keyboards; Ira Siegel handles backing vocals, and plays lead guitar as well as mandolin; and Frank Vilardi rounds out the group, playing the drums. Their sound blends a number of genres including rock, soul, and folk, into a sound distinctly their own—without a hint of Hollywood in it.

The Bacon Brothers will be at the Keswick this Saturday, August 11, with the show starting at 8.00 pm. Organizers of performances like this can use poster printing to advertise the event.
