Glenside area museum to offer history pop-up

Glencairn Museum is hosting a history pop-up event focused on ancient cultures this summer.

The event is designed for students and their families to learn about the cultures of ancient Greece, Rome, Egypt, and the Near East. The program will include hands-on activities, multi-sensory experiences, group discussions and opportunities for self-reflection. Participants will learn about the four cultures’ practices, ideas, and impact on the modern world through images, videos, and texts. They will also be encouraged to think about how their own cultures influence their worldviews. Organizers often work with Print shops to produce the materials for this type of educational event.

All participants need to reserve their tickets through the Glencairn Museum’s website by Friday, August 4 at 5:00 pm. The cost is $8 per student between the ages of 5 and 17. Children under five and adults accompanying a student can attend for free. Students and families from anywhere in the area, including residents of Glenside and other neighboring towns, are welcome to attend.

The Glencairn Museum is offering the pop-up and other offsite events to continue to engage the public while it undergoes a major infrastructure upgrade. Details about the renovations and future programs are available on the museum’s website.

The ancient cultures pop-up program will take place on Sunday, August 6 from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm at the Bryn Athyn Scout Building.
