Crafts with Laughs open in Hatboro

Louisa Coyle recently fulfilled a personal dream and opened a shop for crafters in Hatboro, about seven miles from Glenside. However, her store is not a supply house, but a place where crafters can meet to work on projects as they enjoy a glass of wine with friends.

Coyle got the idea from her experiences at Painting with a Twist, the franchise where people meet to create paintings and sip wine as they work on their art. Coyle reports that her painting efforts were not very successful, but her skills as a crafter were solid. She thought she would enjoy a “crafting with a twist” class, but discovered no such thing exists. With that in mind, Coyle decided to create her own company along the lines of Painting with a Twist, but where people could come and make craft projects.

Despite being enthusiastic about the idea, Coyle did not get started until a friend needed a handcrafted item for a silent auction. Coyle was hesitant, but agreed to start her business to provide either a service, or an item for the auction, to her friend.

A few weeks later, Coyle and her husband were able to find a property, and transform it into a space for her crafting business. Crafts with Laughs opened December 17, with Santa Claus in attendance.

Small businesses like this can benefit by working with a postcard printing company, which can create cards announcing the opening.
