Camps coming up for budding stars

Stars could be born in the Glenside area this summer, when Stage Company Theatre Arts in Abingdon offers two summer camps for children who like dancing, acting, and singing.

Each of the camps concentrates on one particular show, and the weeklong experience ends with a performance. Any child in grades one through ten is welcome to take part in one or both camps, and no experience is necessary.

The first camp is called ‘Annie KIDS’, and is an adaptation of the Broadway production, that won eight Tonys, including Best Musical. This version details Annie's first adventure, as she meets those who will become a huge part of her life: Oliver Warbucks, Grace Farrell, and of course Sandy, the lovable dog.

The second camp is all about showbiz. Local playwrights Barbara and Larry Negro have asked the question that crosses every actor's mind—can he or she get to Broadway? In this case, a group of actors has found an investor, now all they have to do is polish up their songs and dances to make it to New York.

The ‘Annie’ camp is set for July 9 through 14, with the performance taking place at noon on July 14. The hours for the camp are 9:00 am until 3:00 pm daily. The ‘Broadway Bound’ camp takes place July 23 through 28, with that performance on July 28 at noon.

Organizers of this type of event often use poster printing to publicize the occasion.
