Consumers in Butler, as well as the rest of Western Pennsylvania, enjoyed a reprieve from high gas prices over the Thanksgiving holidays, and culminated in gasoline below $3 per gallon on the first of December.
According to AAA East Central Fuel Gage report Monday, December 1 saw gasoline prices reach their lowest level since 2010. Even better news was that the public affairs director for AAA East Central, Chelsea Pompeani, says that prices at the pump are expected to fall even further leading up to Christmas. Projections are that another 5¢ to 15¢ per gallon drop could occur in the near future.
Businesses may consider contacting their local Print company to adjust their advertisements to reflect possible changes in shopping patterns due to the lower gas prices.
A more detailed breakdown of gas prices in the immediate area finds that here in Butler, the average price is $2.959, while New Castle and Pittsburgh prices are even lower at $2.904 and $2.897 respectively.
In an article on timesonline.com, Pompeani indicated that a number of factors were at work in determining the price differences across a region. Among these are demand, traffic patterns, overheads, and the level of competition in the local market.
A drop in gas price is not unusual in the fall and winter months because summer gas blends are more expensive to produce, although this recent drop is beyond normal expectations.Get a Free Quote for Print
