Butler is home to a diverse range of wildlife, and during a workshop offered by the Audubon Society of Eastern Pennsylvania, locals will learn how to offer them a helping hand.
The winter months may be a tough road for birds and other animals, but people can help them to make it through this difficult time by choosing plants and other landscape elements that provide food and shelter. The two-hour session will take place at Succop Nature Park and will explore this subject in depth.
During the event, the attendees will discuss how to choose plants that have berries or other food sources that remain on the branches during winter. The value of native species will be reviewed, and the importance of designing landscape plantings so they offer shelter from the cold is on the agenda as well. Pruning techniques that encourage heavy fruit production on trees and shrubs have been included in the syllabus for this function.
More people are discovering the importance of being good environmental stewards, and environmentally focused organizations will be able to help them get started. A brochure printing company can lend a hand by preparing informational pamphlets and other handouts.
The Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania will host this in person session on December 11. It will start at 10:00 am and attendees must register in advance.
