Butler to help out with planting day

A volunteer opportunity is available for Butler residents who would like to show some love to Mother Nature, and while they work, they can meet others who share their interest.

Four volunteer days have been scheduled for Beechwood Farms Nature Reserve, and those who register will be helping to make sure its newly planted trees get off to a good start. The supplies needed for the task at hand will be provided, and instructions will be supplied as well.

The participants will be planting native trees and shrubs, and anyone who is interested can sign up on their own or as part of a larger group. The goal is to make the site more bird-friendly by increasing the amount of food, shelter, and nesting sites available to them. The activity is set to run for three hours, and all help will be appreciated.

Volunteering with a group project can give people a chance to get started in environmental stewardship, and organizations that offer such opportunities can use the services of a flyer printing company to help get the word out to the community.

The Audubon Society of Eastern Pennsylvania will be engaging in this tree planting activity on April 1, April 15, and May 6. The Society has been able to undertake the work thanks to a grant from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation’s Five Star and Urban Waters program.
