Butler families pull together to help others

The nightmare of a house fire recently became a reality for Cindy and Drew Pearce of Butler, PA, but the reaction and generosity of locals has been incredible.

The Pearce's mobile home was completely destroyed by fire on Friday, March 1. Although firefighters are not sure of the exact cause of the fire, they believe it might have been caused by a electrical problem with the dishwasher.

Response to the fire from the neighboring community was immediate. According to Brett Wagner of the Evans City Area Fire Department, people began calling the fire station as soon as news of the event got out. Callers wanted to find out how they could help the Pearce family.

Members of the community brought a range of supplies to the fire department over the course of the weekend. They donated clothing, furniture, and towels. Some people also offered gift tokens to area stores so that the family could pick out the items they need and purchase food for themselves. As the Pearces continue to recover, Butler flyer printing could be made use of to let people know what items are still needed.

The Pearce family has been active members of their community. Their two children have been involved in Cub Scouts and the family is involved in its local church. Cindy Pearce expressed amazement and gratitude about the help she received, saying:

"It's amazing, amazing how people come together in a time of need."

Drew Pearce stated that he was overwhelmed by the assistance they has received and that he is very grateful for all the help.
