A Butler area workshop will teach property owners how they can minimize the impact of erosion through the use of vegetation.
Erosion is a process that affects streams and rivers. Installing plants along waterways creates a zone known as a riparian buffer, and these provide a variety of benefits. The “Improving Streamside Habitat: An Easy, Low Cost Solution” workshop planned for Buffalo Creek Nature Park, just a short drive from Butler, will explore these in depth, and will consist of both an in-class lecture and outdoor learning.
During the session, the attendees will learn how plants can help to stabilize the soil along waterways, as well as how they provide homes and food for wildlife and make the landscape a bit more beautiful. The process of installing dormant cuttings offers a low-cost option, and this will be introduced during the activity. The group will spend some time installing live stakes, and everyone is advised to dress appropriately for outdoor horticulture.
Learning how to take care of wild spaces can be an important piece of environmental stewardship. A workshop such as this provides an opportunity to learn this skill, and educational materials that include full-color graphic design elements can be created for such an activity by a printing services provider.
This two-hour-long class is on the way for March 30th. It will begin at 10:00 am and wrap up at 12:00 pm.
