Butler area to learn about animal tracks
Animals can leave clues beyond for those who know how to read them, and a Butler area activity will teach how to identify and follow a variety of animal tracks.
Buffalo Creek Nature Park provides wildlife themed activities all year long, and in early February, it will be introducing the art and science of following animal tracks. It will take place in the classroom, and while it's free for Audubon members, non-members will be asked to pay an attendance fee of $5.00.
The facilitator of the session will introduce a variety of animal tracks and offer tips for identifying them in the snow. It will be focused on animal species found in western Pennsylvania, and this will be followed by a demonstration where the attendees will learn how to prepare a plaster cast of a track. They will be able to take theirs home with them at the end of the session.
Many people value spending time out in nature, and may appreciate the chance to learn new ways to enjoy the experience. Handouts and materials for an activity can be prepared by area stationery printers.
