As part of an effort to ensure that all local businesses can gain access to the workers they need, the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce has partnered with the Oklahoma County Criminal Justice Advisory Council to host a Fair Chance Hiring Workshop and Expo.
The event is geared towards helping employers identify workers who have previous involvement with the criminal justice system, thus helping these employers gain access to a valuable pool of workers that is often overlooked.
This event has two parts. First, there will be a three hour workshop to will address common misconceptions about justice-involved individuals, discuss specific legal concerns, and help employers address any other potential barriers. From there, there will be an expo, designed to help connect formerly justice-involved individuals with employers who may be interested in hiring them. Chamber members will also be able to connect with potential partnership organizations.
As is standard for Chamber events, there will be plenty of time for networking, and Chamber members are encouraged to bring Business Cards.
This event will take place this Wednesday, May 24, from 8:00 am to 11:30 am. It is located at the Champion Convention Center, which is at 803 S. Meridian Avenue, in Oklahoma City. The cost of the event is $35 for Chamber members and $45 for non-members.
