Water adventure contest brings fun and athletic ability

Oklahoma City adventure enthusiasts will participate in the annual Whitewater Festival this summer.

Individuals and families can enjoy the event, which is now in its fourth year and is filled with races, extreme sports, and activities for all ages. Big Water Grill will be open to provide food and refreshment to attendees.

One of the anticipated races is the BoaterX Competition, presented by Anheuser-Busch Michelob Ultra. Kayakers who regularly take on whitewater rapids launch from the east Riversport Rapids bridge. They will race next to each other through the rapids, and guests find it fun to both participate and watch.

Afterwards, competitors will perform stunts and movements in the channels to earn points in the Freestyly Competition. Medals and pride goes the groups from the Whitewater Rafting League who win the various contests.

Last year, Don Julio Blanco taught attendees about surfing on the river on a standup paddleboard and offered demonstrations during the Whitewater SUP Clinic.

The address to Riversport Rapids is 800 Riversport Drive. For more information, call 405-552-4040 or email info@riversportokc.org. The event is free to attend.

The Oklahoma City Whitewater Festival will take place from July 23 until July 26, starting at 11:00 am and ending at 6:00 pm each day. Brochure printing can inform visitors at sports and adventure complexes of upcoming competitions.
