VA center appoints new director

According to the United States Veterans Affairs Office statement on March 11, The VA Medical Center in Oklahoma City has a new man at the helm.

Sloan Gibson, the deputy secretary, stated that Wade Vlosich has accepted the job and will start in May.

For the past four years, only temporary directors have been assigned to the hospital. Five directors have come and gone since early 2012. The longest, Daniel Marsh, stayed for a little over a year.

Oklahoma Senators Jim Inhofe and James Lankford, who toured the hospital and have been critical of leadership within the VA in the past, praised Gibson's actions as they wanted to hire a permanent director who was competent and prepared for the job. They believe problems at the hospital had to do with leadership and installing a permanent director will fix them.

Last month, Muskogee's Chief of Staff Jack. C. Montgomery was released from his position, but Vlosich has been the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans' Hospital director for over two years.

The VA Medical Center in Oklahoma City's budget is $460m, and it offers services to more than 60,000 patients. Medical centers often hand out Brochures to patients and their families so they know what the hospital can offer. A Print company could make them look clean and persuasive to endorse the hospital.
