The Oklahoma City Thunder’s game against the Phoenix Suns on New Year’s Eve ended in overtime, with a Thunder victory of 137-134.
The Thunder were ahead by seven points by the second quarter, until the Suns evened the score by halftime. A skirmish broke out between Alex Len of the Suns and Russell Westbrook of the Thunder, resulting in a technical foul on Westbrook. He had to be ejected for taunting at the bench of the Suns after giving the Thunder 20 points in under 20 minutes.
Phoenix once again caught up to Oklahoma City after being behind by nine points after the half. By the end of regulation time, the teams were tied and the game had to go into overtime. The Thunder secured the lead with Anthony Morrow scoring four points in one action and came out of overtime with the win. It was the highest NBA game score of the season.
Morrow had help from his fellow teammates like Kevin Durant, who rebounded 10 shots and assisted seven times. He was able to score a total of 44 points throughout the game, which saw his return into action. Serge Ibaka scored 15 points and Reggie Jackson notched 10.
