Stars collect first SAC title in five years

Oklahoma City University (OCU) won against the Oklahoma Baptist (OBU) baseball team in the Sooner Athletic Conference on May 4, with a score of 7-5.

A last-inning grand slam by Connor Lynch awarded the Stars the game, which was held at Jim Wade Stadium in the championship tournament. OCU had not won a SAC Tournament since 2010, but this marks their 10th of all time. OBU was the SAC champions of the regular season and was hoping to keep the title.

The key moment of the game was in the second half when OCU evened the score 3-3 in the seventh inning through Jeff Ricker's right field hit. They secured two more in the next inning thanks in part to Cody Ziegler's left single RBI. In the last inning, OCU strategically loaded the bases with a walk and a bunt, then Lynch brought them all home.

Lynch stated that the pitch was a hanging curveball and he put all his might into the hit. He is proud that he could secure the win since the team has worked hard to get this far. He is also pleased with his team and described them as “deep”.
