Austin, Texas, native Jackie Venson is the daughter of professional musician Andrew Venson and Dr. Diane Brinkman. Her mother encouraged her to study piano, but although the young woman played for approximately seven years, she always found it uninspiring. That changed in 2011, when she attended Berklee College of Music. There, she listened to a classmate play the guitar, and noted that he seemed to be enjoying himself. She switched to the guitar and never looked back.
Since beginning her career, she has released three albums she recorded in the studio: “The Light in Me,” which came out in 2014; 2019’s “Joy,” and “Vintage Machine,” which dropped in 2020. She also has three live albums to her credit, and has constructed an alter ego, a DJ named “jackie the robot.” In this persona, Venson has released another two albums.
In recent years, Venson has opened for artists such as James Taylor, Tim McGraw, and Jason Aldean; and performed at the Austin Urban Music Festival. The city responded by declaring May 21, 2014, “Jackie Venson Day.” A concert review says:
“Jackie is my new favorite rocker! Amazing performance and sweet personality.”
Venson will be at the Tower Theatre in Oklahoma City on April 14 at 8.00 pm. Health measures will be enforced, and poster printing can be used to create reminders about safety guidelines, as well as advertising events like this.
