Singer/songwriter/fiddler to play Oklahoma City

A multi-talented artist is scheduled to make a stop in Oklahoma City soon.

Kyle Nix has played fiddle with the Turnpike Troubadours for years, but recently embarked on a solo venture. He released his debut album, “Lightning on the Mountain & Other Short Stories” in 2020, an effort inspired by the music of Ennio Morricone, who composed the music for the iconic Spaghetti Westerns “Fistful of Dollars” and “For a Few Dollars More.”

Nix has tried to structure the album the same way an author constructs a collection of short stories, using sound instead of words to tell his tales. The soundscapes Nix has created tell some of his own history, as well as that of some of the unusual characters he’s met during his years performing on the road.

The subjects of the “short stories” Nix has gathered in “Lightning on the Mountain” range from “Wolf at the Door,” about Michigan shoot-outs, to “Sweet Delta Rose,” a Southern ballad. Nix is the lead singer on the album, backed up by his former bandmates from the Turnpike Troubadours.

Kyle Nix will be at the Tower Theatre OKC on May 7 at 8.00 pm. The venue has put strict health safety measures in place, requiring that audience members wear masks and maintain a safe distance. They will remove anyone who fails to comply with the regulations. Flyer printing can be used to create handouts reminding attendees of protocols at events like this.
