Oklahoma City’s Canterbury Voices will perform Brahms' Requiem to start off November and the new opera season.
Considered a treasure among choral pieces, Johannes Brahms wrote ‘Ein deutsches Requiem’ after his mother and Robert Schumann, the composer, passed away. It combined melody and vocals to create his most iconic work, which earned him recognition as a major composer. Canterbury Voices will use two pianists, each playing Brahms' rendition on piano to highlight the piece.
Gabriel Preisser and Sarah Coburn are joining Canterbury Voices for this performance. Baritone Preisser has performed with several operas across the nation and won a 2019 Grammy for Best Opera Recording. Coburn is a soprano praised for her confidence on stage and vocal range at the Glimmerglass Opera.
The Civic Center Music Hall has a reception hall, three theatres, and rental spaces. Most of the acts are by local performers. Such performance venues often use poster printing to advertise upcoming shows.
